David Mitchell was born, raised and educated in Atlanta, Georgia. A product of Atlanta Public Schools, he was raised in Southwest Atlanta. A proud graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School and Morehouse College, he has been shaped and molded by the life of Dr. Mays in a profound way– and has used that exposure to guide his steps when doing the work necessary to impact the community and lives of others. He has spent 20 years as various part-time and volunteer roles as a both a community activist and political operative.
This work has never been full-time, but a labor of love for his hometown and his state. Over the years, he has helped guide and advise many current and former elected officials, working with candidates running for public office in the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools (APS), for county commission, and elected judge races, and for individuals seeking statewide seats in Georgia. He has worked several local and statewide get-out-the-vote efforts, and consulted on the 2012 T-SPOST campaign as well as on major, statewide voter registration efforts focused on registering African Americans.
His volunteerism also includes service on the Fred A. Toomer Elementary School Local School Council, the Maynard Jackson High School Booster Club, and was an inaugural member of Benjamin E. Mays High School’s mentoring program. For the past 5 years he has supported and advised Raising Expectations, an Atlanta non-profit focused on providing wrap-around services for APS students and families in the Washington High School Cluster.
David Mitchell earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance from Morehouse College. With over 20 years of experience in banking and finance, he currently works as the Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Bridge Bank, a division Western Alliance Bank. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, he is the market leader for the Capital Finance Group, supporting bank’s footprint in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions., prior to joining Bridge Bank, David spent nearly four years with Action Capital Corporation, eight years as a Vice President and Principal Banker with Wells Fargo Business Banking, and three years as a Vice President in Commercial Banking for Citizen’s Trust Bank (CTB), a minority owned bank headquartered in Atlanta. While at CTB, he managed the bank’s partnership with the Department of Transportation, working with small, minority and dis-advantaged businesses, through its Short Term Lending Program. He also spent four years with GE Capital Corporation, working in their Corporate Leasing, Small Business Capital and SBA Lending units. Prior to that, he spent three years in investment banking for Ward Bradford & Co., after starting his career in 1992 as a Management Associated in the Commercial Banking and Leasing units with NationsBank, now Bank of America.
David is married to Suzanne G. Mitchell and is the proud father of his daughter, Adrianna Mitchell, and twins, David Mitchell, Jr, and Sloan Mitchell. He attends Impact Church in East Point and is a proud member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
