Better Outcomes For Our Kids (BOOK), a non-profit organization founded and operated by African Americans for African American children in metro Atlanta, was birthed out of the need to, “Educate, Empower, and Execute”, the beneficiaries of the quality schools movement and public education.
We believe well-educated African American children are future educators, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, architects, engineers, social workers, astronauts, pilots, and all the other workforce professionals that make a diverse, vibrant, and sustainable community.
The launching of a new and improved website that features new leadership team, advisory committee (The Men of BOOK), and our family-friendly programming, positions us to effectively and efficiently carry out the need to up lift public education. Our mission is rooted in “three core values” that represent the foundation by which we do our work.
Educate – where we are focused on increasing the awareness of Educational Options through community engagement, stakeholder development, and working with subject matter experts. This way BOOK can clearly define the value proposition of understanding publicly funded traditional schools, public charter schools, an non-traditional, online and homeschooling options.
Empower – where we are dedicated to giving tools needed to empower stakeholders about the Quality Schools Movement in metro Atlanta.
Execute – where we will carry out our work by identifying champions representing community and political leaders, business owners, clergy, and parents to build a committed stakeholder network. These advocates will support our efforts as we look to impact the African American community.
The mission of BOOK is to raise awareness around the need for high-performing schools and educational options and promote family and community involvement in African American communities.
With parents, community members, and leaders in mind, our programs are designed to listen to dialogue, gain knowledge, share resources, experience school culture and environment, industry best practices, empower champions, and build collaborative relationships through the sharing of information.
