Experience the Magic of Dance: Atlanta Chinese Dance Inspires Lovett’s Second Graders

The Lovett School was thrilled to welcome back the @atlantachinesedance for an unforgettable cultural experience! Our second graders were captivated as performers beautifully narrated a dynasty story through mesmerizing dance and intricate props. The best part? Our students had the unique opportunity to learn and practice the prop movements themselves, fostering creativity and appreciation for the arts. This collaboration not only enhances our students' learning but also strengthens community ties through the beauty of cultural expression.

Help Us Protect Our Kids’ Rights Under IDEA

Families depend on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure that their children with autism, dyslexia, and other challenges receive the education they deserve. Recent efforts by the Department of Education to eliminate key staff responsible for enforcing IDEA threaten our children's civil rights. This restructuring could strip away vital protections, transforming our children's education and rights into mere political leverage. It's time to stand together and advocate for our kids' futures to ensure that IDEA is more than just a promise. Join us in protecting special education for all children.

Drew’s Students Ignite Conversations on Black History at Morehouse

Drew's Student Equity Committee stepped up in a major way last week at ASALH Youth Day! 💡 We were honored to take a leadership role at this inspiring celebration of Black history emphasizing the impact of Black labor, held at @morehouse1867. Our students guided attendees through an Equitable Dinners experience, using our Thriving Together Atlanta play to spark deep, meaningful conversations. They expertly facilitated small-group discussions showcasing the incredible leadership, facilitation, and community dialogue skills they've developed through the Youth Equity Incubator. It was a powerful opportunity to engage with educators and community leaders passionate about history and justice. Drew was honored to be invited to participate on this significant public stage! (ASALH: Association for the Study of African American Life and History, founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, and the driving force behind the creation of Black History Month continues its mission to preserve and promote African American history and culture at Morehouse College.)
