2020 Inaugural Addie Awards and Annual Fundraiser
The inaugural Addie Awards and Excellence in Education and Leadership Fundraiser was held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, Park Tavern, Atlanta. BOOK honored Georgia’s First African American Male Pre-K Teacher of the Year, Jonathon Hines, a teacher at Barack Obama Elementary School. In honor of National Mentoring Month, BOOK partnered with Kwame Johnson, CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. He was the keynote speaker.
The Addie Award is named for Mrs. Addie Cannon Sloan, a celebrated educator who made a lasting impact on children for decades in the Metro Atlanta area. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in education and leadership.
